We build steel structures for warehouses, workshops and canopies to approved drawings. We review quantities, supply, fabrication, erection and cladding scope with you before quoting.
Steel structure calculator
Estimate your steel-frame budget directly by square metre. Enter the covered area or length and width, then choose supply, fabrication and erection or labour-only.
Suggested starting rates for a simple single-storey frame, not a binding quote or verified lowest market prices. Final pricing depends on drawings, spans, height and site.
What does the estimate cover?
- Supply, fabrication and erection: structural steel and fabrication and erection for a simple low-rise single-storey frame within the agreed scope.
- Labour scope includes fabrication and erection, excluding steel supply. Erection-only excludes both materials and fabrication.
- Foundations, cladding, insulation, coatings, fire protection, design and approvals are excluded and priced to specification.
- Transport and cranes are not added automatically. Enter an allowance from a quote; leaving it blank excludes them.
- Direct square-metre calculation: covered area or length × width, multiplied once by the unit-rate range.
- Tax applies to the items, then contingency to the total including tax. Contingency is a budget provision, not a contract charge.
- Scope: 20–5,000 m² of covered area. Multi-storey frames, mezzanines, large spans and crane loads require separate review and are outside these starting assumptions.
Assumptions last updated:
A clear fabrication and erection scope
Steel grades, sections, connections, preparation, fabrication, transport, erection and equipment responsibilities are defined. Choose materials with fabrication and erection, fabrication and erection labour, or erection only according to project needs.
Steelwork, cladding and foundations
Primary and secondary steelwork, cladding, insulation, foundations, coatings and fire protection are reviewed as separate items with their own specifications and quantities. The calculator does not add these extras automatically.
Drawings determine actual quantities
Spans, height, loads, use and connections affect steel quantities and construction. Area-based calculations are an initial budget allowance; qualified specialists handle design, sizing and approval, and final pricing uses drawings and quantities.
Prepare these details for a quote
- Approved structural drawings and steel quantities, if available.
- Site, dimensions, spans, height, use and cladding type.
- Supply, fabrication and erection scope, and transport, crane and coating responsibilities.
Does the square-metre price cover the entire warehouse?
No. Steelwork is reviewed alongside foundations, cladding, insulation, coatings, equipment and other works. The quote states inclusions and exclusions; the calculator provides an initial budget only.
